Case Study: Mobile Video Downloads Website
Making use of Java, PHP, MySQL, Apache Tomcat and running on a dedicated server we built a bespoke mobile video downloads website with a custom content management system (CMS) to handle the client’s 1.5TB worth of mobile videos (17,000+ files.) The CMS generated dynamic video content pages with three mobile video formats, (Sub-QCIF, QCIF and QCIF HiQ) search engine optimised URLs and full textual content including meta data. Integrated with Bango.com (a global mobile billing and analytics provider) payments could be billed to a user’s mobile phone account via their network operator such as Vodafone or O2, which eradicates the need for lengthy credit card transactions.
Originally developed for a UK audience, the site now transacts on an international basis.
